Tokyo stocks end lower

Tokyo: Tokyo stocks ended 0.05 percent lower in the morning session of Friday as investors were reluctant to make bold moves. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 9.94 points from Thursday to end the morning at 18,289.68, Xinhua news agency reported. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 2.02 points (0.14 percent) to 1,481.54. Major decliners included oil and coal products and shipping, while real estate and retail issues led gainers.
