Tokyo: Tokyo shares opened the trading on Monday sharply lower as the sentiment here was weighed down by the yen’s advance against US dollar. At 9.15 a.m. (local time), the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 262.23 points, or 1.47 percent, from Friday to 17,618.28, Xinhua reported. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 18.33 points, or 1.26 percent, to 1,435.48.
