Equity benchmark Sensex jumped 228 points to its fresh lifetime high on Monday, tracking gains in index heavyweights Reliance Industries, TCS and ICICI Bank.
After starting on a tepid note, the 30-share BSE index rose 228.46 points or 0.44 percent to finish at its all-time high of 52,328.51.
Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty surged 81.40 points or 0.52 percent to a record 15,751.65.
PowerGrid was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rallying over 4 per cent, followed by NTPC, UltraTech Cement, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries and IndusInd Bank.
On the other hand, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC and Dr Reddy’s were among the laggards.
Sensex gainers
Power Grid: The stock was the top winner of the Sensex pack. It touched an intra day high of Rs 237.60 before closing at Rs 236.20, up 10.05 points or 4.45 percent.
NTPC: The stock touched an intra day high of Rs 116.75 before closing at Rs 116.40, up 4.55 points or 4.07 percent.
Ultracem Co: The stock touched an intra day high of Rs 6903.55 before closing at Rs 6848.65, up 185.55 or 2.78 percent.
Reliance: The stock touched an intra day high of Rs 2241.80 before closing at Rs 2227.30, up 36.70 or 1.68 percent.
IndusInd Bank: The stock touched an intra day high of Rs 1032.75 before closing at Rs 1025.10, up 15.85 points or 1.57 percent.

Bajaj Finance: The stock was the top loser in the Sensex pack. It touched an intra day low of Rs 5681.20 before closing at Rs 5728.20, down 265.35 points or (-)4.43 percent.
Bajaj Finserv: The stock touched an intra day low of Rs 11,683.45 before closing at Rs 11,828.50, down 323.90 points or (-)2.67 percent.
HDFC: The stock touched an intra day low of Rs 2,580.3Q0 before closing at Rs 2,584.70, down 34.75 points or (-)1.33 percent.
Dr Reddy: The stock touched an intra day low of Rs 5,213 before closing at Rs 5,218.85, down 34.50 or (-)0.66 percent.
