NEW DELHI : The government is likely to levy a spectrum usage charge of more than 3% of telecom companies’ annual adjusted gross revenue, for spectrum acquired though auction, a senior official from the Department of Telecommunications said.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on Sep 9 recommended that the spectrum usage charge should be levied at flat 3% for spectrum acquired through auction, instead of the existing slab-based regime wherein telcos pay levy in the range of 2-8% of their annual adjusted gross revenue. -Cogencis
