Silver futures rise 0.53% on global cues

New Delhi: Silver prices surged 0.53 per cent to Rs 36,855 per kg in futures trade today largely after speculators enlarged positions, taking positive cues from global market. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month May was trading higher by Rs 194, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 36,855 per kg, in a business turnover of 307 lots.

Also, the white metal for delivery in March rose by Rs 174, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 36,225 per kg in 70 lots. In the international market, silver gained 0.34 per cent to USD 14.94 an ounce in Singapore today. Market analysts said a firming trend in the global market China growth concern fuelled safe-haven demand, mainly influenced silver futures.
