Sensex up 43 points; IT stocks gain

Mumbai: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Friday was trading 42.65 points or 0.15 percent up as IT stocks surged.  Good buying was observed in IT and consumer durables sectors. Heavy selling pressure was seen in auto and banking sectors.  The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 28,892.21 points, was trading at 28,893.62 points (at 09.49 a.m.) in the early session, up 42.65 points or 0.15 percent from the previous day’s close at 28,850.97 points.

The Sensex has touched a high of 28,910.01 points and a low of 28,791.71 points in the trade so far.  The S&P IT index gained by 196.16 points and consumer durables index moved up by 98.41 points. However, auto index plunged by 391.53 points and bankex went down by 70.99 points.  The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also was trading 6.45 points or 0.07 percent up at 8,718.15 points.
