Sensex sheds 134 points during afternoon trade

Mumbai: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets on Thursday was trading 133.85 points or 0.50 percent down during the afternoon session. The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also down by 40.30 points or 0.49 percent at 8,130.90 points.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,083.70 points, was trading at 26,905.91 points (at 12.49 p.m.) in the afternoon session, down 133.85 points or 0.50 percent from the previous day’s close at 27,039.76 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 27,099.11 points and a low of 26,869.11 points in the trade so far. Good buying was observed in consumer durables sector, while selling pressure was seen in power and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors. The consumer durables index gained by 0.87 percent, while power index dropped by 1.21 percent and FMCG index fell by 1.07 percent.
