Mumbai: The rupee depreciated 10 paise to 66.52 against the US dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange due to appreciation of the American currency in global markets.

Forex dealers said gains in the dollar against other global currencies and a lower opening in the domestic equity markets, weighed on the rupee.

The rupee had gained 31 paise to close at three-week high of 66.42 in yesterday trade.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell 100.77 points or 0.39 per cent to 25,703.01 in early trade.
