Prasar Bharati and Digital Television Russia to take new media cooperation forward

New Delhi, Dec.28 (ANI): Two of the world’s leading broadcasters – India’s Prasar Bharati and Digital Television Russia (DTR) recently announced plans to take their cooperation the field of new media to the next level.

This strategic alliance will not only focus on high quality production, marketing and distribution of content related to art, culture, trade and science, research and technology etc., but also on joint production and exchange of TV programs and related services to give audiences in both countries an unprecedented access to a rich variety of thematic entertainment and factual content.

Both broadcasters have said that a MoU signed in this regard will open up great opportunities in field of news exchange and of setting up a joint venture to explore the possibilities of commercial cooperation in area of broadcasting.

Under the new MoU, national broadcaster Doordarshan would be the recipient of several Russian programmes, either free of cost or at low and economic cost, and similarly Doordarshan is offering a whole series of Indian programmes to be telecast by DTR as part of the exchange.

It has been agreed that Doordarshan will have the rights for dubbing and sub-titling the Russian programmes including creation of spots and promos and vice versa.

Various divisions of these two broadcasting conglomerates would facilitate each other’s media persons with documentaries, audio-visual clips and other material that are available so as to enrich their “stories”.

Both broadcasters will collaborate in the creation of branded programming blocks in various genres like sports, culture, education and kids, where co-produced programmes on subjects of mutual interest could be shown and effectively marketed. The economics and broadcast strategies will be worked out through mutual discussions.
