With the increase in digital footprint, data keeps amassing; this data fuels innovations. Regulating the use and analysis of big data may assist in ascertaining and improving the security, accountability and quality of data. This is a cross-sectoral issue which can only be understood by equal participation by stakeholders including technologists, lawyers and policy makers.
Do entities require internal guidelines to ensure collection of a bias-free data set? How can data be democratised for maximum utility across sectors? The panel discussion is one step in initiating the discussion on regulating the data space.
