NITI Aayog CEO to also serve as part-time Telecom panel member

New Delhi : The Union Cabinet cleared handing over to NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Kant the additional responsibility of part-time member of Telecom Commission.

“The participation of the CEO of NITI Aayog in the meetings of Telecom Commission will lend value to the deliberations of the Commission, because the NITI Aayog has been mandated to serve as a think tank of the government,” a press release said.  Telecom Commission is the apex decision-making body of the department of telecommunications and is headed by telecom secretary. The government appointed Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion Secretary Amitabh Kant as the chief executive officer of NITI Aayog for a tenure of two years.
