Mixed trend in foodgrains market

Chennai: Thoor dal and wheat went up while gram dal and maida declined at the wholesale foodgrains market during the week. However, prices of other commodities remained unchanged. Prices of thoor dal and wheat went up by Rs 200 and Rs 100 per quintal, respectively to Rs 11,200 and Rs 2,850 from its previous week’s closing of Rs 11,000 and Rs 2,750. Gram dal opened the week at Rs 6,000, down by Rs 50 per quintal from its closing rate of Rs 6,050 and ended the week at its opening rate. Maida (90 kg) was less by Rs 100 to Rs 2,400 from previous rate of Rs 2,500 and ended the week at Rs 2,400. Prices of other commodities remained unchanged, maintaining the previous week’s closing rate–urad dal (Rs 10,700), moong dal (Rs 10,000), sugar (Rs 2,400) and sooji (90 kg-Rs 3,000).
