“It will not take long for the formation of this dept,” says Indian Ports Association, MD

Mumbai : In order to deal with issues of logistics, the Commerce ministry is working towards developing a logistic department. This department is expected to deal with logistic issues faced by various industries across different mode of transport.

Indian Ports Association, MD, A Janardhana Rao said, “It will not take long for the formation of this department.”

This department would consist of 20 experts who can deal with logistics issues across sectors.

India’s logistics market is expected to be worth USD 307 billion by 2020.

However, neither has it got industry status nor it has had a single department that looks into its issues. So this department will come as a relief to the logistics players.

Unlike India, other developing countries have already understood the requirement of logistics players.
