Maharashtra Civic agencies allocate only 0.5% to 1% towards ICT

 Mumbai: In Maharashtra, 5 Municipal Corporations, namely, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Pimpri-Chinchwad will allocate just about INR 60 million to INR 220 million for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) deployment in 2014-15.  Citing the India Infrastructure Research report titled ‘ICT in Urban Governance – Survey’ that witnessed participation from 53 civic agencies, Schneider Electric India emphasised that cities across the India require higher ICT budgets for faster conversion into Smart Cities.
