Kolkata: US-based J W Marriott would operationalise its first hotel in the city by October 2015, an official of Mani Group said.

“We will hand over the property to J W Marriott by June 2015. Then it will take about three months time for the hotel to start operations,” Sanjay Jhunjhuwala, chairman of Mani Group, told PTI.

Mani Group is developing the property on arterial E M Bypass Road, which would be managed by J W Marriott.

Jhunjhunwala said that the property was being developed at a cost of around Rs 1,300 crore and would have 300 keys and other facilities.

He said, “It is a challenge to have this kind of the property in the city. We are depending on Marriott’s worldwide presence to attract guests here.”

Located next to another five-star deluxe property ITC onar, the hotel was one of the few built in the city in recent times.

ITC Sonar was also expanding its property at the moment.
