J-k govt to present annual budget on Jan 22 next year

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir government will present its annual budget on January 22 in the Legislative Assembly, which will have a 52-day Winter Session beginning from January 18 next year. “Annual financial statement of expenditure for 2016-2017 and presentation of supplementary statement of expenditure for 2015-2016 will be on January 22 in the state Assembly”, Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta said.

The Speaker issued provisional calendar for sittings of the 3rd Session of the 12th Legislative Assembly. “The general discussion on budget will be held on January 25, 27 and 28 ending with reply thereto”, he added.

As per the Provisional Calendar, starting from January 18, with Governor’s address to Legislature, the House sittings would continue till March 9. It is the longest Budget Session of the state’s Legislative Assembly. According to the calendar discussion on motion of thanks on Governor’s address and reply thereto will be held on January 19, 20 nd 21.

As per the calendar the demands for grants for various departments would be taken up from January 29 to February 26 and the Appropriation Bills will be taken up on February 27. There shall be Government Business on February 29. Private Members Resolutions will be taken up on March 1 and March 3 and Private Members Bill on March 4 and March 8 and there will be Government Business on March 2 and March 9 if any, the calendar issued says.
