India-UAE ties important than ever in current scenario

Dubai: Asserting that India-UAE ties were more important than ever in the current global scenario, a senior minister of the Gulf state has said the two countries must develop their human capital for their economies to compete successfully on a global scale.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member and Minister of Culture & Knowledge Development, UAE said this yesterday while speaking at the first annual conference of All India Management Association here (AIMA).

“We know that in both India and the UAE we must develop our human capital if we are to have knowledge economies that compete successfully on a global scale,” he said.

He strongly supported a close and continuing relationship between the two sides, as strong bilateral relations in the current global conditions were more important than ever to both countries and to the region.

The objective of the conference was to promote collaboration in business and academics between the two countries.

The key theme of the conference was ‘Building Human Capital for the Knowledge Economy’. It also involved dialogue on some key areas of common interest for India and the UAE, including creating excellence in education and training and developing talent for the global market, creating global healthcare centres using local talent and cost advantages and building smart and scalable infrastructure to drive long-term growth.

The conference was chaired by Sunil Kant Munjal, Senior Vice President, AIMA, and Joint Managing Director, Hero MotoCorp Ltd & Chairman, Hero Corporate Service Pvt Ltd and was supported by the Embassy of India in UAE and Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), Dubai.

India’s Ambassador in the UAE, TP Seetharam, and Anurag Bhushan, Consul General of India in Dubai also addressed the conference and brought attention on the potential for mutual cooperation at economic and cultural levels.
