NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court rejected a Fertiliser Association of India petition challenging the government’s right to fix prices of fertilisers. In 2013, the government had issued a notification allowing it to fix the prices of phosphatic and potassic fertilisers. The umbrella organisation of fertiliser companies had argued that fixing of prices disabled companies from recovering adverse fluctuation of costs. The government’s contention was that benefits of fall in global prices should go to consumers. The high court held that fertiliser companies had come under a price regulation system since they benefited from government subsidies.
