Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa recently announced financial allocations for improving infrastructure facilities in important Government Hospitals in the State. A press release said, she granted Rs 2.42 crore for constructing a new building for the Rheumatology Department in the Government Medical College at Kilpauk in Chennai. Besides, she approved the creation of 21 new posts which would entail an additional annual expenditure of Rs 1.15 crore. A sum of Rs 4.30 lakh was allotted for purchasing furniture for the new department. The release said Jayalalithaa also ordered the establishment of a nursing college near Theni Medical College campus with a students’ intake of 50 from the current academic year and a sum of Rs 13.54 crore was allotted towards meeting the recurring and non-recurring expenditure of the institution.
