Petrol and diesel were hiked for the second consecutive day on Tuesday reaching new highs across the country.
Petrol price was increased by 26 paise per litre and diesel by 23 paise a litre, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.
The increase - 17th this month - pushed petrol and diesel prices to a fresh all-time high across the country.
After today’s hike, petrol prices in Delhi rose to Rs 94.49 per litre against Rs 94.23 on Monday, while diesel price soared to Rs 85.38 per litre as compared to Rs 85.15 a litre on Monday.
Rates have been increased across the country and differ from state to state depending on the incidence of value-added tax.
In Mumbai, the price of petrol and diesel stood at Rs 100.72 and Rs 92.69 per litre respectively.
The price of petrol and diesel in Chennai was Rs 95.99 and Rs 90.12 per litre respectively and Rs 94.50 and Rs 88.23 per litre in Kolkata.
The increase in Tuesday is the 17th increase in prices since May 4, when state-owned oil firms ended an 18-day hiatus in rate revision they observed during assembly elections in states like West Bengal. In 17 increases, petrol price has risen by Rs 4.09 per litre and diesel by Rs 4.65.
