President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, besides some minister tweeted their condolences and all mentioned Mohapatra's ethics and dedication to his work.
The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, tweeted his 'pain' at the 'untimely death' of Mohapatra.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his condolences and recalled working with Mohapatra 'extensively in Gujarat and at the Centre'.
Mohapatra was admitted to AIIMS in mid-April.
Several ministers tweeted their condolences.
Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal tweeted and expressed his sadness to hear about Mohapatra's demise.
Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers Sadananda Gowda tweeted about the officer who 'served the nation with exemplary dedication throughout his career.'
Prior to taking over as DPIIT secretary in August 2019, Mohapatra served as chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
He was a Gujarat cadre 1986 batch IAS officer. He had earlier served as joint secretary in the Department of Commerce.
At the state level, he held the portfolio of Municipal Commissioner in Surat, Gujarat.
