NEW DELHI – Bharti Airtel announced the launch of third generationservices in Africa’s Tchad, extending its 3G footprint to 16 out of 17countries in Africa where the telecom major operates. Bharti Airtel is expected to launch 3G services in the remaining Africanmarket–Niger–within this fiscal year, the company said in a release.The company has already bagged a licence to offer high-speed telecomservices in Niger. Bharti Airtel’s subscriber base in Africa fell more than 1% over theApr-Jun quarter to 69.09 mln users.According to data from McKinsey & Co, there are currently about 400 mlnmobile subscribers in Africa.
