Mumbai: A report in TechCrunch on Wednesday revealed that India’s largest bank forgot to secure a key server hosting sensitive information, says India Today.com. The server, hosted in one of its Mumbai installations, might have leaked details of millions of bank accounts, including bank balance and bank account number. The report in TechCrunch, which came to know about the unsecured server after a tip-off by an anonymous security researcher, highlights that “the bank had not protected the server with a password, allowing anyone who knew where to look to access the data on millions of customers’ information”. It is not known for how long the server was open, but long enough for it to be discovered by a security researcher, who told TechCrunch of the leak, but did not want to be named for the story.
