AP to receive Rs 8000 cr under NREGA in next fiscal: Minister

Rajahmundry (AP)Andhra Pradesh finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu today said the state would receive Rs 8,000 crore from the Centre under NREGA in the upcoming financial year while an equal amount will be provided by the state government for rural development.

The Minister while reviewing the developmental works at his camp office in Thimmapuram in the district, around 60 kms from here, directed officials to take up works under the National Rural Employment guarantee Act (NREGA).

With regard to filling of vacancies in the veterinary hospitals in the state, Ramakrishnudu said the government has given clearance for filling of 225 veterinary assistant surgeon posts and all the eligible veterinary graduates would get employment in this process.

He said with regard to release of capital infusion funds to SHG groups, DRDA officials have been directed to ensure usage of funds for capital investment. Utilisation of universities and other educational institutions for skill development programmes were also suggested by the minister with Tuni as the model constituency.

He said 5050 houses were sanctioned for Tuni town under NTR Housing scheme and 1,250 houses for constituency and asked Housing department officials to expedite the process for construction of houses.

The minister also directed officials to work for the development of Annavaram village which was adopted by him and said Rs 10 crore has been already given to Roads & Building department for construction of roads in the village.
