Ambuja Cement reported a 26.2% rise in net profit for the April-June quarter at Rs 409 crore on higher sales.  The company, in which Swiss building material major Holcim has the controlling stake, had clocked Rs 324 crore net profit in the second quarter last year.

Sales turnover grew to Rs 2,706 crore from Rs 2,344 crore clocking a 15.4 per cent rise over the same period last year.  The company sold 5.79 million tonnes cement during the quarter from 5.38 million tonnes a year ago. Operating margin of the company grew by 12.4 per cent to Rs 588 crore from Rs 523 crore a year earlier.
