BIS conducts bilateral meeting with Standards Australia

A bilateral virtual meeting between the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Standards Australia (SA), Australia was held recently. The meeting was co-chaired by Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Director-General BIS from the Indian side whereas Adrian O’Connell, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) SA co-chaired from the Australian side. BIS and the Standards Australia (SA) are the national standards body of India and Australia respectively. During the meeting, both sides referring to the PM Level talks between India and Australia held in June 2020 and recognizing that standards facilitate trade and economic growth, expressed desire of deeper collaboration between the two institutions in the field of standardization at the national and international fora. BIS and SA shared information on their responses to COVID-19 pandemic, strategized partnership at International Standardization Organizations i.e. ISO and IEC, and discussed future collaboration for sharing experiences in integration of standards in education, capacity building activities and standardization in services sector.
