My favourite book is ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Hosseini. It is an insightful book with lot of emotions which touched me very much. In fact I have read all of his books and my other favourites include ‘Kite Runner’ and ‘The Mountains Echoed’. Khaled Hosseini is such a prolific writer with a deep understanding of philosophies related to society and relationships. He is very articulate and his books have been written in such rich language – rich yet simple. His writings, including this book, have left a deep impact on me. The way he writes, the kind of language he uses gives such a beautiful description of Afghanistan – the disintegration of the land, the kind of devastations the land has seen and sufferings of the people there. You get transported to land by reading this book, it gives you a feel of the place like you are seeing it with your own eyes. His books are charged with emotions so much that they have brought tears to my eyes. I would definitely recommend this book and other works of Khaled Hosseini.

Historical personality I would like to meet…

I would love to meet Rani Lakshmibai. She took courageous discussion during a time when women didn’t have the kind of freedom we have today. She changed the equation of history. She was a princess, yet choose to be a warrior. I think we all should take an inspiration from her and take stands against injustice meted out to women even today.
