Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has tied the knot with political activist and Samajwadi Party leader Fahad Ahmad on February 16. She announced her wedding on social media and penned a heartfelt note for her husband.
Swara met Fahad during a protest. On Thursday, the actress shared a video montage featuring a timeline of their relationship. Swara and Fahad submitted their court marriage papers in January 2023. However, she always tight-lipped about her relationship.
Swara announces wedding
"Sometimes you search far & wide for something that was right next to you all along. We were looking for love, but we found friendship first. And then we found each other! Welcome to my heart @FahadZirarAhmad. It’s chaotic but it’s yours," she wrote on Instagram.
Earlier today, Swara shared a picture of her mehendi-clad hand. However, she did not write anything along with it.
Moments after she announced her wedding on social media, fans and several celebrities filled the comments section with congratulatory messages for the couple.
Who is Fahad Ahmad?
Fahad Ahmad is the Maharashtra State President at Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha, a Youth Wing of Samajwadi Party.
He served as the General Secretary of the Tata Institute of Social Science and joined Samajwadi Party in July 2022.
The 31-year-old political leader graduated from Aligarh Muslim University.
A staunch critic of the BJP-ruled NDA government like Swara, Ahmad has actively participated in Anti-CAA protests in Mumbai and several other protests against the Modi government across India.
Swara's past relationship
Previously, Swara was rumoured to be in a relationship with writer Himanshu Sharma. However, it was reported that they called it quits in 2019. They met on the sets of Raanjhana and were said to be in a relationship for five years.
Swara to adopt a child
In 2021, Swara had announced her decision to adopt a child. The actress had said in a statement, "I’ve always wanted a family and children. I realised that adoption was a way to marry both these things. Luckily in India, the State allows single women to adopt. I spoke to my parents, who eventually agreed and are now fully supportive of my decision. I know the waiting period is long- often as long as 3 years but I cannot wait to be a parent to a child by adoption."
Swara's work front
Swara was last seen in the film Jahaan Chaar Yaar with Shikha Talsania, Meher Vij, and Pooja Chopra. The movie was released in September 2022.
She made her film debut with a supporting role in the 2009 drama Madholal Keep Walking. She also featured in other films Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Nil Battey Sannata, Anaarkali of Aarah, Veere Di Wedding and Sheer Qorma among others.
