Mumbai : Often party goers who arrive late in the night are wary of the backlash of their family members but in the case registered with MIDC police station, the reaction was rather extreme. On Thursday, the MIDC police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his own cousin as he was late to return home after celebrating New Year. According to police, Kamal Mehra (22) had returned home late after celebrating a New Year party with his friends. His elder cousin, Shankar who lives with Kamal, quizzed him about his late arrival to which Kamal gave the reason of party celebration with friends. Shankar who seemed dissatisfied by his cousin’s answer indulged in an argument with him. With no sign of conclusion to the argument, an enraged Shankar allegedly stabbed a knife in Kamal’s chest and later frightened by his own act, he fled from the spot.
After the incident, a neighbour noticed the flat of Kamal open with blood stains on the floor, he went inside to and found Kamal lying on the floor with a pool of blood around him, terrified by the sight he informed police. Soon police reached the spot and investigated in the case and just in a few hours, police nabbed Shankar from the Andheri Station. He is booked under the Section 302 (Punishment for murder) of IPC. It is learnt that Kamal had been to Mumbai for a job as he had recently completed his engineering degree. He used to live with his cousin Shankar who works as a chef in one of Mumbai’s hotel.
