BHOPAL : Hundreds of youths participated in ‘Run Bhopal Run’ marathon to make Bhopal clean and green on Sunday. Mayor Alok Sharma, chief secretary Antony deSa, Collector Nishant Warwade, BMC commissioner Tejaswi Naik and others also participated in the event. The Run-Bhopal started from TT Nagar Stadium and passed through Roshanpura Square, Polytechnic Square, Kamla Park, Retghat and Koh-e-Fiza Square. It was organised in different categories of 2kms, 5kms and 11 kms running distance.
Traffic in the entire routes was diverted. The traffic of Link Road no-1 was diverted to Patrakar Bhavan and Police Control Room from Ankur School Trisection. Similarly, traffic from Nehru Nagar, Kolar, Habibganj was diverted to Link Road no-2.
Besides, various contingents of band-army band, school band, college bands- performed through out the marathon. The participants in the morning reached TT Nagar stadium jam-packed with runners. They were provided T-shirt of ‘Run Bhopal Run’.
Motivating youths, Chief Secretary Antony deSa said, “It is heartening to see participation of hundreds of youths particularly college going youths to make our city clean and green which is our duty and responsibility. It is need of hour to generate awareness in public to make city clean and green.”
Collector Warwade, addressing the runners, said, “It is a noble cause to make our city clean and green for which we are running. We are all here to generate awareness in public to maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the residential colonies.”
