BHOPAL: The Bhopal crime branch on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old youth who had stolen Rs 10 lakh from Bharat Cloth Corner, Bairagarh on October 3. Police also seized an amount of Rs 5,34,000 from house of the accused, along with a brand new Scooty, three mobile handsets all to the tune of Rs 7,30,400.
Acting on a tip-off, cops spotted a suspicious youth riding a Scooty without registration number near Muskan Talkies. He had packets of currency notes in a pocket. The crime branch sleuths him.
As per the crime branch sources, the accused, identified as Rinku, 23, resident of Shankaracharya Nagar was an employee of Bharat Cloth Corner. He raised the issue for hike with his employer for many times who turned down his demand. Due to financial crisis, On October 3 he hid himself in the shop when it was closed. He stole cash, mobile handsets in the night and managed to escape through rear window.
Initially, he misled police about the money recovered from his possession stating that he had mortgaged his wife’s jewellery. Police contacted the jewellery with whom he mentioned mortgaging the ornaments but the man refused to recognise him. But during further interrogation, the accused spilled the beans stating that he was working with cloth corner but owner refused to hike his salary despite the financial crisis he endured after which he committed the theft. He also told the police that he threw DVR of camera in pond behind Kali Mandir.
