BHOPAL : The Kamla Nagar police on Wednesday nabbed a miscreant and seized nine fake Indian currency notes of Rs 100 denomination from his possession. Police were getting the information of circulation of fake currency notes in the area for the last few months after which the raid was conducted.
TI, Kamla Nagar police station, Mukhtar Qureshi said the nabbed accused, from whom the fake currency notes were seized, has been identified as Rahul Shahi, 24, son of Surendra Shahi, resident of Vishal Nagar, Neelbad within the limits of Ratibad police station.
He said that the cops getting information on a regular basis that fake currency was being circulated in the area by those involved in gambling and illegal betting. Acting on the information police constituted a team under SI Prakash Singh Rajput which laid a network of informers in the area. On the basis of information given by one of the informers police nabbed Shahi with nine fake currency notes of Rs 100 denomination. Four seized counterfeit currency notes were of same series 3L725560, two of OQP683101 and three of 288249170.
The accused was taken on remand and was quizzed regarding where he got the notes and where he supplied them.
