BHOPAL : An 18-year-old boy accidentally drowned in a waterlogged ditch at Bhadbhada village on Vidisha Road within the limits of Sukhi Sewania police station on Monday morning. The victim had gone there to take bath along with his friends.

Later police rushed to the spot following the information and fished out his body with the help of divers. Subsequently, after preliminary investigation police registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and sent his body for post-mortem examinations.

Investigation officer ASI NPS Baghel said the deceased Akash Raikwar, 18, son of Rajendra Raikwar, resident of Aadarsh Nagar in Chhola Naka area, was a student of class 10.

ASI Baghel said that Raikwar had gone to take a bath at a waterlogged ditch near railway line in Bhadbhada village on Vidisha Road along with his friends Rohit and Virendra by his bike. While taking bath, Aakash slipped and went into deep water. As the victim did not know swimming well he started drowning, his friends tried to save him but they failed in their attempt.

Later police were informed regarding the incident. A case of accidental death has been registered by the police and after post-mortem body of the deceased was handed over to aggrieved family members for last rites.
