BHOPAL : As many as 50 students of Jawahar Bal Bhavan participated in a concert ‘Sangeet Sabha’, along with their parents, here on Wednesday. The concert was organised to introduce the participants to the basics of music and to enable them to enjoy classical music in all its forms.
It began with ‘Saraswati Vandana’. The children then performed Vagh Vrind, Bhakti Rachna, Classical songs, Rajasthani and Chhattisgarhi folk songs and folk music. The children were accompanied by Prakhar Joshi on Tabla, and Dipesh Sharma on Harmonium.
Jawahar Bhawan is known for its novel initiatives and the concert was one of them. According to Nirmala Upadhyay, in charge of music department, “During summer vacations children want to give time to their hobbies and want to learn new things.”
“Music gives pleasure to people. Essentially music creates a joyous atmosphere. Children enjoy music. This workshop was basically organised for children who are seriously interested in learning music,’ she added.
Director of Jawahar Bal Bhavan Tripti Tripathi informed the parents that Jawahar Bal Bhavan’s Music department is now affiliated to Maan Singh Tomar Music and Art University Gwalior. Also, a proper syllabus will be followed for children interested in learning music.
