BHOPAL : A 25- year- old married woman committed suicide by hanging self from the ceiling fan at her residence located at Civil Lines under Shamla Hills police station during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

The incident came to light on Thursday at around 1: 30am as her husband, who works as a cook in Palash hotel, returned to his home and spotted her hanging body, after which the police were called.

Police said that the deceased woman has been identified as Laxmi, 25, wife of Vishnuprasad Khenal, a resident of PWD Quarter at Civil Line who was said to be suffering from multiple diseases.

Acting swiftly on the information, the police rushed to the spot. A suicide note has been recovered from the spot, which is written in Nepali language and therefore it could not throw light on the reason behind taking the extreme step as the police personnel were unable to understand the script. According to the sources, prima facie the case seemed to be suspicious while the police did not take any action in the case.

Quack arrested for molesting minor The Nazirabad police on Wednesday night arrested a quack on the charge of molesting a 10- year- old girl at his clinic where her parents took her for treatment at Nazirabad locality.

The girl terrified by the obscene acts of the quack raised an alarm hearing which her parents went inside a chamber in the clinic and came to know about the incident subsequent to which they lodged a police complaint against the doctor.

Police said that the victim 10- year- old girl, who resides at Dhootkhedi village, in her statement told the police that on Wednesday night her parents took her to Bengali Clinic of Dr Shreekant for treatment at Nazirabad area.

The accused took her inside a chamber at the clinic on the pretext of diagnosis and started to make obscene acts with her after which the girl called her parents. On hearing her screams the girl’s parents went inside the chamber. Later Dr Shreekant made several excuses to save himself. He said he was just physically examining the girl to find out what afflicted her.

However, the girl’s parents lodged a complaint against him at Nazirabad police station where police booked the quack under section 354 ( molestation) of the IPC and section 7/ 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and later arrested him.

Pressure mounted by creditors abets man’s suicide A debt- ridden middle- aged man committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train near Jain Mandir Colony railway track under Nishatpura police station on Wednesday evening.

Following the information, police rushed to the spot and later sent his body for the post- mortem. Police said that the deceased has been identified as Chandrabhan Sarathe, 45, son of Badrilal Sarathe, a resident of Dewaki Nagar in Karond who owned a kiosk selling savouries in- front of a liquor shop in the locality. A suicide note has been recovered from the house of deceased in which he mentioned that he could not bear the pressure being mounted by creditors who were continuously harassing him to repay Rs 1 lakh he had borrowed.
