BHOPAL : Dhrupad songs and Rabindra Sangeet were presented here on Wednesday – the fourth day of the ten-day programme at Bharat Bhawan, delighted the audience. It is being organised by Bharat Bhawan to celebrate its 34th anniversary.
The programme commenced with the performance of young dhrupad singer Dhani Gundecha. It is noteworthy here that Dhani is daughter of city-based renowned Dhrupad vocalist Umakant Gundecha She started off with ‘aalap’, ‘jod’ and ‘jhala’ in Raag yaman. In the same raag, she presented a song ‘pratham sharer gyan…,’.It was in chu (four) taal. She wrapped up her performance with song ‘Murat Mann bhaye ….’. It was in raag yaman and shool taal. She was accompanied by her brother Neerant and Anant Gundecha on tanpura and Anuja Brude on pakhawaj.
“It is my first solo performance in Bharat Bhawan. I’m feeling proud to get chance to perform on such a prestigious stage but feeling little bit nervousness,” said 21-year-old young dhrupad singer. She also adds that “I did BA in political science from Delhi University last year but want to make career in music only. I and my brothers are learning dhrupad singing from my father and uncles. And now, I’m focussing on music only.”
The programme concluded with the performance Ravindra Sangeet, presented by Jyati Chakraborty. Under this, she presented some Bengali songs, composed by Rabindranath Tagore, enchanted the audience. These songs were ‘tum aaye gaan sunavo…,’ ‘saagun aayo…,’ ‘prano dhuriya trisha horiye…,’ et al. She was accompanied by Varun Das Gupta on keyboard, Subrato Banerjee and Durbo Das Roy on guitar and Sudir Chakraborty on tabla.
