Women give memorandum opposing sale of liquor

DHAMNOD : .Around 25 to 30 women gave a memorandum on Friday at the local Thana. They also pleaded the Collector to make the village liquor free, and to make sure that no illicit liquor is sold.

According to the reports, Collector Jaishree Kiwayat had visited village Doodhi village to unveil the ceremony of giving milk to the children at Aanganwadi, when the women of the village came to her and asked her to make sure that illicit liquor is not sold in the village, as it has been affecting their husbands and families pretty badly.

Kiwayat then and there ordered the excise department officers to take action on an urgent note. The department then raided illegal liquor in the village, and liquor mafia stopped the vehicles of the excise department, on the other hand women stood in front of liquor ahaatas to stop the people from visiting the liquor shops. The excise department finally raided the equipments which were needed to produce illicit liquor from some of the houses of the village.

Collector preaches women empowerment:

On Wednesday, Collector Kiwayat organised a programme in village, and asked the women to start campaigning against illicit liquor and let the excise department know of things. She also asked the women of the villages to motivate their husbands to leave habits related to drinking.

Case registered against Excise Dept:

The liquor mafia on the other hand have campaigned against the policemen who acted against them. They in the report have said that they have been implicated in false cases of producing illegal liquor and have been manhandled by the administrative officers of the excise department.
