BHOPAL : A 55-year-old woman, who runs a grocery and STD shop in the Bairagarh area, was robbed of her gold chain by two bike-borne youth who approached her spot in garb of customer to buy cigarette and pan-masala on Wednesday morning.
Later the woman reached the Bairagarh police station and narrated the incident to police following which a case of loot was registered against unidentified youth.
Investigating Officer JS Thakur said that victim Jyoti, 55, wife of late Prithviraj Raichandani, resides at house no A-36/374 near Shani Temple in Bairagarh.
He said that the incident took place at around 9:30 am when two youths riding a Pulsar 220 CC bike stopped by her shop and the youth riding pillion asked for cigarette and pan-masala. After smoking a cigarette, the youth riding pillion came back and asked for water to drink. She leaned forward to hand him over a water bottle.
Taking advantage of her position the youth snatched away gold chain from her neck, jumped on the bike and rode away with his accomplice. The woman raised an alarm but till then the bike riders had disappeared. Subsequently she reached the Bairagarh police station and lodged complaint. The lady claimed that the chain was worth Rs 25,000.
