SHIVPURI: A distraught married woman attempted suicide in front of the superintendent of police’s (SP) office on Thursday.According to sources, Sarita, wife of Tilak Gour, resident of Naya Amola, had come to file a complaint against her husband for harassing her in the public hearing at SP office. Additional SP Alok Singh received her application and forwarded it to the women desk for necessary action. The women desk further forwarded the application to the Amola police station which made the women worried.

When no action was initiated on her complaint in the next 24 hours she called her husband and asked whether she could return home. He threatened her that if she returns he would kill her. Distressed by his words she returned to the SP office on Wednesday and cut he left hand wrists. She fell unconscious on the ground and remained in unconscious state for a while. Then a woman constable came and along with other policemen rushed the woman to the district hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

Sarita got married to Tilak in the year 2000 and later gave birth to three girl child. Subsequently, disputes started between them and on May 12 Tilak forced her out of his house after which she was desperately moving from one office to another in search for justice. Her father had also refused to take her in his house. The thing that was worrying her was that her application was sent back to Amola police station where she had already applied before. She thought that the local police staff would harass her for contacting their higher officials.
