Ratlam : General manager of Western Railway GC Agrawal inspected the newly constructed Q track near Ratlam along with Ratlam DRM Manoj Sharma on Wednesday. MP Kantilal Bhuria also met the GM at the DRM office to raise his demands and to give suggestions for railway facilities.

Talking to media persons, Agrawal said that construction works of the Q track between Ratlam-Dhoswas has been completed. It will pave way for managing better traffic from Indore via Fatehabad to Rajasthan areas.

He said that Chief Railway Safety Commissioner would inspect the track probably in first fortnight of July this year, then railway board would declare schedule of running of the trains through the track.

He said that two lifts would also be installed at Ratlam Railway station in coming months. Foot over bridge extension would also be done to oconnect it with platform no. 7.

Commenting over the security issue in trains, Agrawal said that recruitments are being done by the board and soon railway police will get additional staff. MP Kantilal Bhuria also demanded public facilities and underbridges here from GM.

‘Strike is only way to get demands fulfilled’

General secretary of Western Railway Majdoor Sangh JG Mahurkar said that they are not satisfied with seventh pay commission recommendations by central government. He said that they will go on strike from July 11 over the issue. Mahurkar said that government has rejected the request of Naitonal Joint Council of Action and National Federation of Indian Railwaymen. Trade unions have left with no other option then resort to indefinite general strike from July 11, for which notice has already been served to the government.

He said that central government ahs compelled the Railwaymen and other central government employees to resort to indefinite general strike as the demands have not been accepted. Announcement of seventh pay commission has resulted in strong discontentment, as neither the minimum pay nor the fitment formula have been modified by the government although there were negotiations between the railway federations. He alleged that central government is misleading the people in the matter of seventh pay commission.
