Bhopal : Former ABVP leader VD Sharma alleged that irregularities in Vyapam examinations and recruitment were started during the tenure of former chief minister and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh. He also alleged thatSingh gave out of turn promotion to Nitin Mahindra, mastermind of the scam.

In a press conference here, Sharma said Digvijaya made false statement against him only to save the real culprits in the scam and dilute the role of Raj Bhavan after the arrest of Governor’s OSD Dhanraj Yadav.

Sharma released result sheets of PMT-1998, 1999 and 2000. He said he had strong doubt that the modus operandi of ‘pair selection’ – as revealed in STF investigation was started in Digvijaya Singh’s tenure. The STF must now look into the results of those years.

“There were 51 pair selection in 1999, 32 in 2000 and 76 in 1998 in pre medical test,” he said.

Mahindra was appointed in tenure of the then Congress government and was given out of turn promotion during 1998-2000.

Referring the arrest of Governor’s OSD, Sharma said as he raised the demand for termination of Governor Ram Naresh Yadav for arrest of his close relative, Singh tried to divert investigation only to save the governor and other accused.

He demanded probe in all PMTs from 1993 to 2003 and other recruitments. He further said he would move court to file defamation suit against the former chief minister in case of not seeking apology.

Sharma, who has joined the BJP before LS Poll, pointed out that Ajay Gupta, a senior advocate and former spokesman of PCC is counsel of accused Pankaj Trivedi, Dhanraj Yadav, Bharat Mishra and Ajay Mehta. He is also advocate of former chief minister Digvijaya Singh in several cases.

When asked, Gupta said: “Being an advocate, it is his dharma to appear in court on behalf of clients. Former chief minister Digvijaya Singh approached him to appear on his behalf in court and he did. Also, he appeared in dumper case against chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. There are several advocates who represent in court in Vyapam case.”

Regarding the post of Congress spokesman, he said he resigned from the post when new body was formed and he had not political linage.  The SMS sent by former additional advocate general Naman Nagarath on February 21, 2014points out question on appearing of same counsel for Vyapam and STF both in the High Court.

When contacted, senior advocate Nagarath said he sent the SMS to principal secretary to Chief Minister, SK Mishra as he found that it was legally and morally incorrect that same counsel appeared for the police and the thief both.

“As I have been associated with Shivraj Singh Chauhan, I tried to bring into his knowledge that it would cause problem for chief minister,” Nagarath said on phone.Mishra later conveyed that there is no contradiction and the government will handle it, the advocate said. “Recently I contacted chief minister Chauhan and he said he was not aware of it,” Nagarath said.
