Gandhwani : Gandhwani Development Block is consist of around 150 small, large size villages falling under 66 pachayats leading to 1,80,000 people residing in it.
Such large population has Gandhwani as the sole education center but as a tight slap in the face of the government, the students here have to travel a stretched distance of around 25 km to 75 km to reach Manawar, Barwani or Dhar to continue their study. Taking the problem into consideration and driven by the special attempts and demands made by the citizens, a college was opened in the area in 2013. From the time of its opening, how the college is still in existence is a subject of wonder. As the college staff, a principal, 6 assistant professor, librarian, sports teacher, clerk, accountant, 4 assistant group, 3 book lifter, peon, guard and sweeper a total of 17 posts are approved for the college but at present the college staff includes only 6 guest faculty and a sweeper. Admission procedure for the art’s stream is in progress. In BA second year, the number of students is 35 while in the third year as many as 49 student are enrolled. On the other hand, for the current session of BA first year 40 students have been admitted into the college. Since the admission process is still going on, more students are expected. Immediately after the completion of the admission process, the problem of sitting place and arrangement will open its mouth because at present the college is running in three rooms of the Excellent Higher Secondary School. Recently, B L Chauhan from Sardarpur has been transferred to the college who has not taken the charge yet.
Due to the absence of an account, the salary distribution and other expenses will be affected. “Rooms of the college are a big problem. We are running liberary and class in a same room. In-spite of DD power to the college, due to absence of an account the college is dependent on Dhar for financial matters.” In-charge principal, K S Vaskel
