Bhopal: Many tea and Fast food stall vendors are using subsidised domestic red LPG cylinders instead of blue (commercial) cylinders in the state capital belying the tall claims made by the Food and Civil Supplies Department of taking action against the vendors regularly and imposing fines on them. Tea and Fast food stall vendors at places like Bittan Market, 10-number market, Tin-Shed, Roshanpura, New Market, Jawahar Chowk, Shivaji Nagar, MP Nagar, walled city and other places openly use red domestic LPG instead of commercial which is blue in colour, flouting the government norms.
Some vendors openly use red LPG cylinders while others cover it to avoid action. Such practices can be seen at even notified food zones in the state capital. Onus lies on district administration to take action against such vendors. District administration, especially Food and Civil Supplies Department, has been badly exposed. However, officials claimed that they take action from time to time and impose fine on vendors. On the other hand, vendors say that red LPG cylinders are easily available and distributors easily provide these cylinders to them. They have good tuning with distributors and give them tips for door step services. So they do not have to move here and there to get Red LPG cylinders.
‘Teams take action regularly’
Food and Civil supplies incharge Jyoti Shah Narvare said, “We take action regularly and in future also we will continue to raid to check such practices. Our teams consistently keep close watch on vendors. We have strictly instructed our teams to take strict action and impose heavy fines in order to discourage such practices.”
