BHOPAL: Taking serious note of the increasing infant mortality rate in the state and to ensure vaccination of infants within due dates, the health department has decided to fix the accountability of the officials concerned and thereby took action. If vaccination of any child is not done within the stipulated time, the health personnel concerned will face monetary punishment.

According to sources, if any child is not administered the vaccine within the due date, he will be penalised at the rate of Rs 250 per day from 31st day onwards and the amount will be deducted from his salary and paid to the parents of the child. According to reports, MP has a high infant mortality rate and the government has faced severe criticism from all quarters. Despite repeated instructions to the health department, the situation did not improve.
