BHOPAl: Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday appointed Special DG and chairman of the police housing corporation Vijay Kumar Singh as in-charge Director General of Police (DGP) of the poll-bound state. Current DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla has proceeded on six weeks’ medical leave. The government on Wednesday issued the orders after getting the approval of Election Commission of India (ECI). Shukla, reportedly has been diagnosed with heartrelated ailment and will undergo a medical procedure at Asian Heart Institute, Bandra Mumbai. Hence the government.
With the approval of the ECI, appointed Singh as acting DGP till further orders. Since Election Model Code of Conduct is in force in state which is going to polls on November 28, the government had recommended panel of three names to ECI that of – V K Singh, D G police reforms MK Gupta and D G jail Sanjay Choudhary, to be appointed as acting DGP in absence of Shukla. ECI finalised Singh to remain incharge DGP till further orders. Singh, a 1984-batch officer, will continue to hold his existing post
