BHOPAL : In what may be described as a PPP mode operation to curb over-loading in passenger buses, the state government, on Friday, decided that passengers complaining about overloading with photograph of buses through WhatsApp or other social media will be rewarded Rs 1,000 if the complaint is found true and strict action would be taken against concerning vehicle’s driver and owner. A system is being developed to implement this scheme. Details will be made public soon.
This was announced at a departmental review meeting of Transport Department, chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
The Chief Minister directed that vehicles should be checked regularly and the licences of drunken drivers should be cancelled.
He also directed for continuous checking of vehicles for emission levels and fitness.
The Chief Minister instructed to allocate Rs. 5 crore initially for the Public Transport Infrastructure Authority.
The meeting was informed that tax has been reduced from Rs. 120 to Rs. 12 per seat for school buses.
It has benefited 15,000 school buses in the state. Online registration of vehicles and issuance of driving licenses has been launched. Registration of 17,000 conductors and drivers has been done under CM’s Driver-Conductor Welfare Scheme.
