‘EOW doing PE despite CS recommending FIR’

Bhopal : Despite the state government handing over e-Tender scam to Economic Offence Wing (EOW), the FIR into the matter has not yet been lodged in two months. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had handed over the investigations to the EOW at the beginning of June. The EOW is still investigating the matter as preliminary enquiry (PE).

Chief secretary BP Singh too had recommended to the EOW to register FIR and probe into the scam. The course of investigations as PE is raising the clouds of suspicion.

The EOW is not in a position to take strong step as the scam is connected to water resources department, public works

department and public health engineering. The scam has raised question mark on the role of country’s big IT companies, government employees and officers too. An officer, connected with investigations, said: “We were connecting links in the e-Tender scam. He said officers of the departments and the

companies looking after e-Tender system have password. EOW is trying to connect link between departments and IT companies after which the FIR would be filed, said the investigating officer. IT experts are also being consulted in this matter. Sources said the scam was sent to cold storage considering upcoming assembly polls.

The Vyapam scam landed the state government in trouble and that is why, the investigations into e-Tender scam was neither given to the cyber cell nor the CBI.
