BHOPAL : The special CBI judge Bhopal has convicted 12 persons, including five employees of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) for causing a loss of Rs. 44.74 lakh to EPFO and sentenced Gajendra Singh Chouhan, the then LDC, Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Sub Regional Office, Bhopal to undergo seven years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 38 lakhs; Pratap Singh, the then Section Supervisor, to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.3.8 lakhs; CT Joseph, the then Section Supervisor, to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.2.3 lakhs; Ramchander, then APFC EPFO, Sub Regional Office, Delhil to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.2.05 lakhs; RD Paranjape, then Enforcement Officer, EPFO, SRO, Indore to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.2.05 lakhs and Rajendra Singh Thakur to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.40,000. Manish Gaur, Ravi Khandare and Manoj Chauhan to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.20,000 Rajesh Kumawat, Balram Chauhan and Rakesh Kaushal to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.50,000/- each.
It was alleged that Gajendra Singh Chouhan during the year 2001 to 2003 entered into a criminal conspiracy with other officials of EPFO, SRO, Bhopal and other unknown private persons and fraudulently settled eleven PF claims in the name of persons who were not members of EPFO. The charge-sheet was filed in 2007.
