Mhow : Lt Gen Ravindra Singh Panwar, SM, VSM, Commandant, MCTE continued the endeavour of the Army in support of GREEN INDIA MISSION to preserve the clean and green environment of Mhow by undertaking the plantation of a Fruit Orchard in the open areas of Cadets Training Wing of Military College of Telecommunication Engineering along with Col Gautam Mahajan, Commander, Cadets Training Wing. Many senior officers and approximately 200 Gentleman Cadets participated in this event aimed at spreading the message of a greener environment and contributing towards the Natural Action Plan on Climate Change.The event was in continuation of the campaign of tree plantation in MCTE where a similar plantation drive was carried out in the family accommodations of the troops on July 1, 2015.
The Orchard would be one of its kinds with approximately 100 saplings of various fruits including trees such as Mango, Guava and Blueberry. The trees would form a pocket of greenery and will prove to be a Carbon Sink, thus ensuring a cleaner environment to both the army personnels and the civilians living nearby. Speaking to cadets, the Commandant reiterated the importance of greenery. The Cadets carried out tree plantation with full josh and vigour. Every tree is been nominated as the responsibility of a group of cadets to which they pledged to preserve and to continue the efforts of the College with full tempo.
