NDRF, Army called for rescue operations
BHOPAL/INDORE: Railway officials said that 62 dead passengers, including 25 from Madhya Pradesh, have been identified so far.
The list includes, 14 from Indore, three from Bhopal, two from Gwalior and one each from Ujjain, Dewas, Dhar and Ghatabillod. Datia Collector Madan Kumar said, “Five bodies have been dispatched to MP.” The deceased from Bhopal include Jiktesh Maurya(Awadhpuri) and Rajni Singh and her mother Geeta Singh (Govindpura).
The passengers from Indore killed in mishap are Shanti Devi Yadav (Police Lines), Braj Mohan Das (Snehlataganj), Jagmohan Das (Snehlataganj), Rajkala (Sunder Nagar), Sanjay Singh (Srinagar extension), Hebanti Devi (Nehru Nagar), Pooja Soni (Nehru Nagar), Rakesh Soni (Nehru Nagar), Dhudhnath Sharma (Kaushalyapuri) and Sheela Jaiswal (Podaar Nagar), Satyendra Singh and his wife Heera Singh (Telephone Nagar) and Ratnika Singh and her daughter Shreya. Two passengers from Gwalior are Rameshwar Prajapati (Jivaji Nagar) and Amit Bhakni(Sonagiri). Ujjain’s Patiram and Shatrughan Singh of Balgarh, Dewas and Ghatabillod resident Saurabh Ray and Sugreev Prasad (Pithampur, Dhar) also died in the tragedy.
1,266 boarded ill-fated train from Indore
The railway officials told reporters that as many as 1,266 passengers had boarded the ill-fated train from Indore—400 in general class, 518 in 6 sleeper coaches and 308 in AC coaches.
As many 171 people from Bhopal were travelling in the train. Out of all the passengers from the state, 286 were in AC coaches while 315 were in sleeper class.
From Bhopal, there were 16 passengers in coaches from S-1 to S-4 including four passengers in S-1, one in S-2, seven in S-3 and four in S-4 sleeper class. Similarly, 32 boarded in sleepers coaches in Ujjain, 18 boarded in Dewas and only person one boarded at Shujalpur. There were 41 passengers who boarded from Bhopal in AC coaches—A-1, A2, B-1, B2, B-3 and BX-1. B-2 and B-3 which were badly damaged had 26 passengers from Bhopal. In Indore, Air condition coaches had 168 passengers while 21 passengers boarded from Ujjain and 12 passengers boarded from Bairgarh and 7 from Dewas.
4 trains cancelled, 14 diverted
Railways cancelled four trains and diverted 14 others following the derailment. Lucknow-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Varanasi-Ahmedabad Sabarmati Express, Gorakhpur- Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Kushinagar Express, Kolkata-Jhansi, Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus-Lucknow Pushpak Express, Gwalior-Barauni Mail, official said. Also, Lucknow-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, Gorakhpur-Yashwantpur Express, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Gorakhpur Express, Bhopal-Lucknow Express and LTT-Pratapgarh Express have also been diverted.
